DC Anti-Hero John Constantine Reborn

By  |

On March 13th, NBC released the first official photos of Matt Ryan dressed up as Constantine for the upcoming pilot which are pretty close to perfection in our book. Matt Ryan is known for his role as agent Mick Rawson on the hit show Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior.

Constantine is a fictional character created by Alan Moore for DC that works as an occult detective. On top of Ryan’s acting talent, the show is being produced by David S. Goyer (One of many writers for mega blockbuster films like The Dark Knight, Man of Steel, and Batman Begins) and Daniel Cerone (Dexter, The Mentalist, Charmed).
This is not the first time that the character has been portrayed on film. Back in 2005, Keanu Reeves played the role of Constantine on the big screen and it met with mix reviews scoring 5.5/10 on Metacritic and 46% on Rotten Tomatoes. We’re definitely hoping that these mediocre reviews of the past don’t affect the general opinion of the show and allow the audience to truly give it a chance. It’s always a great day for us when one of the lesser known comic book characters get a little bit more air time and we’ll be keeping an eye out as NBC’s Constantine as the story develops.
