Stan Lee Responds To Goyer’s Outlandish Remarks On Creation Of She-Hulk + More

By  |

The internet and Stan Lee are in outrage over screen writer David S. Goyer’s (The Dark Knight Trilogy, Captain America: Winter Soldier) comment regarding comic book heroine, She-Hulk, on an episode of the Scriptnotes podcast.

For those that don’t know, Scriptnotes is an extremely popular podcast about screenwriting and things that are interesting to screenwriters hosted by John August and Craig Mazin where they bring in special guest into the podcast from time to time.

It seems at some point during the podcast, Mazin and Goyer got on the topic of She-Hulk and it went downhill from there. They called the character “Slut-Hulk” and proclaimed that the only reason she was created was so that the Hulk could have a giant green porn star that he could fuck.
Well, the internet did not take this sitting down. Goyer’s and Mazin sexist comments have stirred the fury of the internet and even Stan Lee has responded to this. “Never for an instant did I want her as a love interest for Hulk,” said Lee. Stan Lee and artist John Buscema created She-Hulk aka Jennifer Walters in 1980 as strong female hero that was the cousin of Bruce Banner, the Hulk. She has always been portrayed as a strong character because even when she’s not smashing and kicking butt as the She-Hulk, she is kicking butt in court as an amazing lawyer. She’s also no D-ranked hero. She-Hulk has been part of the Avengers, Heroes for Hire, The Defenders, The Fantastic Four, and S.H.I.E.L.D throughout her comicbook career.

But it doesn’t stop there because Goyer also seems to have bitter words regarding Justice League member, Martian Manhunter aka John Jones. Goyer goes to say that Manhunter is goofy and the fact that he comes from Mars in order to pretend to be a human detective that solves crimes like a human instead of using his super powers to read people’s minds is pointless. Seeing that Martian Manhunter is part of the Justice League and that DC is planning to produce a Justice League movie might be a bad idea for Goyer to badmouth his future career placements. It just doesn’t instill the confidence in his ability to write for this movie.

Dear Mister Goyer,
I think everyone is entitled to an educated opinion. Keyword here being “Educated”, meaning that you should take the time to research the topic/character that you’re going to rant about because otherwise, it just makes you seem foolish. Evidence, your recent podcast.

Keep It Nerdy
